Dr. J.K. Wijerathna obtained his MSc in Mathematical Modelling and Numerical Methods for Partial Differential Equations from the University of Kaiserslautern, Germany, in 1995. His MSc dissertation was on vortex methods and geophysical fluid mechanics. He then continued to pursue his PhD jointly with University of Kaiserslautern, Germany, under the supervision of the famous German mathematician Prof. Helmut Neunzert who mainly worked on numerical problems in nuclear technology and plasma physics. Dr. J.K. Wijerathnas’ PhD research was on numerical solutions of Darcy’s law with memory. He was a co-founder of the Research and Development Centre of Mathematical Modelling. He continues to supervise researches spanning over areas such as computational fluid dynamics, numerical methods for partial differential equations and quantitative finance. Dr. J.K. Wijerathna also contributed as a consultant to some research-based institutes in the industry such as AMBA Research (Lanka) Ltd.
